Outdoor Power Equipment FactsQ. How big a difference does the equipment brand name make?A. The difference in quality is huge. You will find that 99% of landscapers fit within a narrow range of brands and preferences. You too, as a homeowner, will find better luck with professional products that cost a little bit more. Q. What is the best lawn mower to use?A. Honda makes the best walk behind lawn mower. You don't need the more expensive hydrostatic drive. The best value is the best Honda Lawn Mower that does is a two or three speed. Everyone keeps it on one speed all the time anyway. Hydrostatic doesn't do much of anything for you. Q. What is the best string trimmer to use?A. Echo is the easiest to use. It is lighter than Stihl and balanced better. However, there is no service or help with Echo because they have now catered to big box stores and left the small mower shops in the lurch. If you want service and a quality string trimmer, Stihl is really the only option. Q. Do I Need a Zero Turn Mower?A. Most homeowners don't need zero turn. It makes a lot more sense if you do lawns for a living because they are much easier to maneuver. A tractor mower is a lot less expensive and can be used for large open areas. Hard to maneuver lawns will need the zero turn mower. Q. What Chain Saws are best?A. Stihl and Husqvarna are about even. They are both excellent choices. Many of the other chain saw brands are very poorly made and will often wear out with one or two uses. Echo makes a smaller chain saw and it works pretty well, but the overall preference is for Stihl or Husqvarna. |
