String TrimmerDo you remember when nobody trimmed their lawn? Nowadays, it seems to be a necessity because all your neighbors lawns look so great. The advent of the string trimmer is what made lawns get their fine look. When buying a string trimmer there are two main brands to look at : Stihl and Echo. Both of these brands are very good, but you should know some basic information before buying. EchoEcho is a lighter trimmer that is well balanced and well made. It has been a favorite of professionals for many years. When you are doing a lot of trimming, a little bit less weight and a good balanced machine makes the job a little easier.Echo is currently losing favor with professionals. The reason is that they stopped making it worthwhile for “real” lawn mower shops to carry the brand. Echo made the decision to put their loyalty with big box stores. Today, you pretty much have to go to Home Depot or Lowes to get one of these trimmers. With that in mind, you can be sure that you aren't going to get any service with it. StihlStihl products are more durable than Echo. They are a little heavier and not balanced quite as well, but they still work nicely and are the main choice of professionals. Many people choose Stihl simply because it is the only brand that you will get professional service with. You will know something is a Stihl brand because it is brightly colored orange.Other BrandsThere are many other brands of string trimmers, but none are even close to Stihl or Echo. You can save a little bit of money with these brands, but you are not going to get the same quality. For most people, it is all about the size of the lawn. A large lawn will require some quality stuff. A small lawn can get by with some of the lowest quality equipment.WarningString trimmers are often stolen. Don't leave them out unaccounted for. |
